Building Confidence and Fluency
Our program is designed to provide individualized support that enhances students’; confidence and comfort level in mathematics, allowing them to tackle both remedial practice and advanced concepts with ease. We meticulously manage each student’s weekly progress, ensuring they are always working at their optimal level.
Core Philosophy and Methodology
Our primary goal is to bridge the gap between abstract school concepts and practical application. We achieve this through:
• Individualized Pacing: Progress is tailored to the student’s current mathematical ability, using weekly worksheets (similar to workbooks) to reinforce existing learning and introduce new material.
• Remediation and Confidence: We focus on areas of weakness to build a strong, solid foundation, increasing the student’s confidence in their core abilities.
• Enrichment and Comfort: By allowing students to attempt more challenging or advanced topics (enrichment/acceleration), we foster a sense of ease and capability toward mathematics.
• Real-Life Application: We ensure students can quickly apply numerical concepts and operations in real-life contexts.
Grade-Specific Progression and Focus
Kindergarten (Ages 4-5)
Even at this early stage, students begin foundational work in basic addition and subtraction. We connect number concepts to real-life usage by utilizing diverse methods like pictures, counting objects, and visual aids. This helps kindergarteners conceptually link numbers to large number domains as they progress.
Grades 1–2 (Ages 6–7)
Students begin by practicing addition and subtraction within simple number ranges. We quickly expand their understanding of place value by connecting math to real-world examples they encounter, such as addresses, birth years, and calendar dates, easily extending their range of comprehension into the hundreds and thousands.
Grades 3–5 (Ages 8–10)
The focus shifts to accuracy and mental math fluency.
• Addition and Subtraction: Students use weekly practice sheets to significantly improve their mental calculation accuracy and speed in addition and subtraction.
• Multiplication: We ensure students gain a firm conceptual grasp of multiplication, enabling them to approach this area with confidence.
Long-Term Benefit
The continuous practice and solid understanding of number concepts and basic operations developed in our program provide a significant advantage. This fundamental skill set is crucial for students to accurately and easily solve the diverse and complex mathematical problems they will encounter in Grade 6 and beyond.
