Creative learning projects can foster a child’s natural imagination, and also helps them develop other essential life skills that will stay with them for years to come. 

Arts and crafts lessons and activities can help children develop many important life skills including creativity and imagination, self-expression, confidence and independence, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, social skills, and critical thinking. They also enhance problem-solving abilities, improve concentration, and can provide a sense of accomplishment and community.  The art and craft lessons can also strengthen children’s pre-writing, mathematical, and literacy skills, and teach them about different cultures.

As children in SK to Grade 2 begin to develop a stronger understanding of artistic concepts like colours, shapes, and patterns, they also become more independent in their creativity. They will start to come up with their own unique ways of creating things, and naturally learn how to use more complex tools and art materials.  

Program Overview

For SK group:

• Birthday Card – A card that is made with love and warmth.

• Snail Craft – Turn simple beads and cardboard into adorable desk friends!

• Gratitude Pumpkin – Simple materials list: fabric, polyfill stuffing, and embroidery floss/strings.

• Rainbow Fish – A fun and easy project using egg cartons.

• Glow-in-the-Dark Jellyfish – With battery-operated tealight, turn a plastic bottle into an adorable hanging jellyfish craft.

• Projects may vary based on the availability of materials and supplies.

For Grades 1-2 group:

• Birthday Card – A card that is made with love and warmth.

• A Plate of Pumpkins – Simple materials list: fabric, polyfill stuffing, and embroidery floss.

• Rainbow Fish – A fun project using egg cartons and beads.

• Suncatcher – A beaded craft that is super easy to create, designed to capture some sunshine and memories as we transition into the fall season.

• Fridge Magnet – A simple and creative way to turn jar lids into adorable magnets for your fridge.

• Snail Craft – Turn simple beads and cardboard into adorable desk friends!

• Glow-in-the-Dark jellyfish – With battery-operated tealight, turn a plastic bottle into an adorable hanging jellyfish craft.

• Projects may vary based on the availability of materials and supplies.

This program offers students a diverse range of unique projects, ensuring that no project is repeated within the same academic year.  In Arts and Crafts Corner, each project represents a work of art, and every lesson provides an opportunity to create something beautiful!
