About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement

I was inspired to create this koi fish because I think they are very captivating and beautiful. I liked the idea of the contrasting colours with the blue water and the vibrant orange. The calming backdrop of the water made the vibrant colours of the fish pop out and drew attention to the koi. The idea of vibrant and calming colours contrasting with each other made this art very appealing to me.

Koi fish are often associated with peace and serenity. I want people to feel calm when they are looking at my art piece. The fluid motion of the koi, with the cool blues of the water, could create a soothing atmosphere and draw people closer to nature. I want people to feel relaxed and have a sense of tranquility when they look at my art. For others, koi fish are often seen in gardens, restaurants or places they've visited. I want people to remember about their past experiences and feel a sense of nostalgia, reminding them of good times they have had.

I enjoyed making the background. I was able to be creative and used many different materials to make it. I was allowed to experiment with different textures, patterns, and shades of blues for the water. As I saw the pieces coming together, I felt a sense of satisfaction seeing the pieces merge into something cohesive and flowy.
