Swan Lake

About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement
I was inspired by the beauty of swans. Swans represent love, peace, and grace. I wanted to recreate this in my art to replicate the same feeling I get when I see swans.
A theme I wanted to communicate through his piece was love and peace. I wanted this art piece to exude a calm and elegant feeling to the viewer. However, there's a twist. I was inspired by Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet. The two swans represent the two halves of the heart, but they are visibly separated. This shows how they are "so close yet, so far." Just like how Romeo and Juliet were united by love but separated from haste.
The process: I enjoyed finding different colours of papers to merge into this art piece. Even though it took me more than 10 hours to do this piece, I learned how to be more patient. Creating the waters was the part I enjoyed the most. I had to trust the process and myself and it turned out great.
