About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement
The tiger is considered to be a very majestic animal. Through God’s creation, we can see a small glimpse of God’s majesty. He is the true Majestic One, the creator of everything.
The inspiration for this collage is the majestic and breathtaking glory of the tiger. The tiger is an animal that carries an air of elegance, power, and beauty. With its bold black stripes contrasting against its beautiful orange pelt, this creature is truly astonishing.
Through this collage, I would like to communicate the theme of many parts coming together to create something greater. Individually, the tiny scraps of paper seem almost insignificant. As you add and layer the pieces together, the image of a majestic tiger is formed. I also wanted to use this art piece to point to the magnificence of our creator. Our Lord is the true Majestic One, who created all elements of the universe, including the tiger.
The process: this piece took a really long time to complete, but the end product was very satisfying. I enjoyed layering the different pieces of paper together, taking the colours and their values into consideration. I also enjoyed figuring out how to utilize the blue colour under the shadow of the tiger’s face. This created a deeper visual effect, as blue and orange are complementary colours.
