Intricate Wonders

About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement

This piece represents the amazing details and incomprehensible logistics behind God’s work in His creation of nature. Therefore, when looking at the precision of a leaf’s design, it leaves you in awe and wonder of God’s creativity and abilities.

When I think of “nature,” the first object that appears in my mind is a leaf. The leaf is precious because it shows itself in all sorts of different ways—new life in the spring, brittle and old in the fall. It also comes in many shapes and serves as a home for bug species. Overall, I think that leaves truly signify the concept of nature’s freshness and cycles.

For those who stop to look at my art piece, I would like them to ponder about the perfectionism of God’s creations. Though I am unable to replicate His perfect work in my own creations, I want to convey the magnificence of even small things. I hope that with this display of representing God’s details, the audience can reflect on the small things around them.

The process: I enjoyed seeing the way colours blended together using pencil crayons. I am not familiar with pencil crayons, but using them allowed me to have full control over each of my strokes, making sure every line had much care put into it. I made an effort to make the leaf look tropical and refreshing.
