Floating Through Flowers

About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement
The name of this piece describes the gentle movement of bees and their interaction with the floral. The word "Floating" shows the light, graceful motion of how bees hover between the flowers. Meanwhile, "Flowers" highlight the central theme of nature and pollination, showing the beauty and harmony of this scene. I chose this title as it evokes a sense of serenity and appreciation of the relationship between bees and flowers.
I was inspired to create "Floating Through Flowers" because of the beauty and importance of bees. The sight of bees gracefully moving between blossoms is both peaceful and mesmerizing, and I wanted to reflect that sense of movement and life. I also included a bouquet because it represents the abundance and diversity of flowers that bees rely on. A bouquet brings together different colours, shapes, and textures, creating a vibrant and dynamic scene that enhances the visual appeal of the artwork.
Through "Floating Through Flowers", I want to communicate the beauty and harmony of the relationship between bees and flowers. By showcasing the bees gracefully moving through a vibrant bouquet, I hope to inspire a sense of wonder and admiration for these creatures. The artwork also conveys a message of balance—how every small element in nature plays a crucial role in maintaining life.
What I enjoyed most about creating this art piece was blending watercolours and pencil crayons to bring the scene to life. The softness of the watercolours allowed me to create a dreamy, flowing background, while the pencil crayons added precise detail and texture to the bees and flowers. Additionally, the process was both relaxing and exciting, especially as the colours layered and blended together. Seeing the final composition come together with a mix of softness and detail was incredibly rewarding.
