As a celebration and support for “Earth Day” on April 22nd, our Grade 3 students initiated a used book sale to 1) help promote environmentally friendly initiatives, and 2) raise money for orphanages in Haiti. A total of $820.50 was raised as a result of their hard work leading by their home room teachers, Mrs. Kalemkerian and Mrs. Shin, from designing posters, collecting used books, and managing the sale. As our Grade 3 students were learning about money in their math classes, they were thrilled to have this opportunity to be “cashiers” and practice making change!
Representative from Freedom Global Outreach, the organization that manages the orphanage, will be visiting our students to show them the direct impact of their effort. We pray that our students not only love in words but in action, just like how the bible says,
“17 But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
Special thanks to Mrs. Kalemkerian and Mrs. Shin for your leadership, and parents for your support!
