It is 11pm and the students are settling in for the night. We had a very full day in Wikwemikong. We began by packing our belongings so that tomorrow morning we will be able to hit the road as early as possible. When we arrived at the Center we were greeted by a traditional meal of “Indian Tacos.”
Today’s lesson expanded on the gospel message and centered on the story of Cain and Abel. AJ, in grade eleven, explained that Abel’s sacrifice was accepted by God because it was birthed from a heart that was inclined towards obedience whereas Cain’s heart and will were not. God accepted Abel’s sacrifice but rejected Cain’s. Likewise, God accepted the sacrifice of his only Son – Jesus Christ – because Jesus alone had a heart, a mind and a will that were entirely inclined towards obediebnce – even obedience unto death for sinners like me.
After the story and the message was completed, each of our students had the opportunity to sit with one of the children who had been coming to the program this week and share the gospel message with each one. Scattered around the room were clusters of children sitting with a PCA student who went through a children’s gospel tract. A number of children today prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour and their Lord today. Thank you for praying for this! We now trust that God will raise up a generation of Godly men and women who would seek His face all their days.
In the evening, teens from Wikwemikong were invited to the centre and we had a “Games Night” with them. Scattered throughout the centre were tables where PCA students played board games with the teens from Wikwemikong.
Among the many highlights of the day was receiving hand knit toques from Shirley Hamilton, Day Star’s founder and director. She also gave each of the students a Valentine’s Day gift.
Tomorrow we will be departing from Wikwemikong glad for the good men and women who are faithfully labouring in this particular harvest field. The team here in Wiky is capable and faithful. God has been good to Wiky by placing such a compassionate and competent team here.
As the Lord wills, we will see you soon. We will be driving to Sudbury to catch Porter Flight No. PD536 to Toronto. It is scheduled to depart Sudbury at 1:35pm and arrive at the Billy Bishop airport at 2:35pm.
God bless you and have a happy Valentine’s Day.
