Two special events were held on February 4th and February 12th to support our Ecuador Missions team. More than 200 guests participated the events. We were so humbled by the overwhelming help and support from our PCA community, friends and family!
Guests received warm welcome by our missions team members upon arrival, while others were busy ushering guests to their tables. The serving team was led by Mrs. Jennifer Lee, Guidance Counsellor and English teacher. She did an incredible job for leading the sending team in serving the 16 tables of over 110 guests for a 3-course Ecuadorian meal during the Missions support dinner.
“The servers were so polite and eager to help.” said Miss Stella Mok, one of the three leaders of the Ecuador mission team. “I caught glimpses of Abigail T. scraping a large pile of dirty dishes, Derek Y. leading the servers in a time of prayer during a brief moment of downtime, Marshay C. with the sweetest smile cheerfully bringing guests to their tables, and Eric C. so exhausted from serving that he fell instantly asleep on a chair but perked up quickly when he knew it was time to wait on his tables again. As for Mrs. Chan, she was so cheerful and in control of everything – even with the major seating changes that occurred 30 minutes into our program!” This is just a glimpse of how we all came together to support the team.
Both events were filled with prayers, word of God, laughter, great food, and surprises! After the presentations about where and how they plan to serve in Ecuador, we all prayed in small groups according to their prayer requests. The guests were then invited to participate in a game about how much we know about Ecuador. This game encouraged us to step out of our comfort zone and care about the world around us. It was followed by personal testimony of one of our Missions teammates, AJ. It is always amazing to see how God has a plan for everyone, and we are unique and special to Him!
During the Mission Luncheon we were surprised by a spectacular dance presentation led by Mr. Phillip and his fellow teammates! Five of them dressed in authentic ethnic attire dancing to the featured music of Slumdog Millionaire. This performance instantly became the climax of the event!
The Ecuador Missions Teams are encouraged by everyone who showed support in various ways. May God continue to guide them and bless their journey along the way! Please keep them in your prayers! They are leaving on March 2nd and returning on March 10th.
