Today, we arrived bright and early at Cristo Liberador and were welcomed by the pastor and all the abuelitos (grandparents) who attend that church. The Pastor encouraged us to adopt a grandparent during our time with Cristo Liberador to really focus on spending time with, encouraging, and loving our Ecuadorian grandparent. Following breakfast and a time of devotion, we got on a big bus with our grandparent and headed to a public swimming pool and park where we had lunch, aerobics work-out, swimming, games, and a stroll around the park. It was such a heart-warning experience to be cared for and loved by our abuelito. Despite the language barrier, our common love for Christ bonded us today.
Following our time with the abuelitos, we prepared for and implemented our first drop-in English conversation class. Today’s topic was, “Things to Say at a Restaurant”. Our students did a wonderful job and fun was had by all.
Our final event was a workshop with the Young Adults’ Ministry. The church wanted us to share on the topic of how to outreach to young adults to bring them into the church. We had an object lesson and a bible study followed by a pizza fellowship with the young adults at Cristo Liberador. We were very encouraged by the faith of these young people.
Please pray for us! Tomorrow is our final full day of ministry in Ecuador. On Thursday, we will have part of a day with Cristo Liberador before we head off to the airport to leave for Canada.
