It is 5pm as I write this. The students are taking a rest after a full day of orientation. Our day began with breakfast consisting of eggs, toast and fruits. After breakfast, students read through 1 Thessalonians observing the structure and the substance of this letter.
We had a brief orientation from the Youth World staff to some cultural aspects of life in Ecuador. We learnt about the importance of greeting every person in a room when one enters the room. Likewise, it is important to bid farewell to each person when one leaves the room.
After, we boarded our bus and went to the Youth World office. Here, we were introduced to the ministry of Youth World and how our small contribution over these next few days contributes to the bigger work that Youth World in which Youth World is engaged in Ecuador.
The remainder of the day was spent touring various sites in and around Quito.
This evening will involve completing our final touches on our Bible lessons and messages. We will have dinner and then head to bed.
Please pray that God would continue to use us for his glory. We are still adjusting to the altitude.
Youth World is taking exceptionally good care of us. We are always accompanied by Amy, an intern from Wisconsin and Jose Luis, a Bible student who is from Argentina.
Thank you and good night.
