It’s a little after 9pm as I write this. Today is International Women’s Day. Although it may be an international holiday, in Ecuador it is a very big deal. We learnt that traditionally on Women’s Day, the women are served breakfast in bed and they are encouraged to take the day off.
After lunch in the children’s centre, we boarded a bus and headed to El Refugio. El Refugio is a retreat and leadership training centre which is owned and operated by Youth World. It is only an hour outside of Quito. We were given some time for Bible reading, prayer and personal reflection.
For those who opted not to try cuy, hot dogs were available.
Tomorrow will be our last day working with the children. We can anticipate that there will be sadness both from our students and from the children upon our departure. Please pray that our presence and the lessons we have taught will contribute to the spiritual birth, growth and maturity of these children.
