In obedience to the Great Commission found in Matthew 28, the Sr. School will be sending out a team of students to the Northern Ontario, Native Reservation of Wikwemikong. Wiky, as it is affectionately known, takes pride in the fact that it remains Canada’s only Unceded Indian Reserve. While there, we will be partnering with Day Star Native Ministries – a Christian ministry seeking to plant a church and disciple new Christians on Wiky and surrounding reserves.
The 8 students and 3 teachers, in dependence on God, are seeking to teach the youth of Wikwemikong the truths of Scripture in order to point them to Jesus Christ as the son of the Creator and the only one who is able to save humans from the wages of our sins. We will be hosting daily programs for children in which we will be recounting the Creation account as recorded in Genesis. Through Genesis’ record of creation, we will share the gospel and invite them to count the cost of following Jesus.
The most valuable assistance you can render to us, as a team, is to intercede for the people of Wikwemikong in prayer. The blood of Jesus has been shed for them. By his shed blood he has ransomed people from Wikwemikong and made them to be a kingdom and priests to God. Therefore, our labour is not in vain. The labour of the full time workers past and present on Wikwemiking is not in vain. The labour that will continue after we depart, will not be in vain. God’s massive heart of love for Wikwemikong will see to it that one day the whole earth, including Wikwemikong, will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God! Pray that this glorious day comes quickly.
In preparation for our week on Wikwemikong, our student sending team is hosting an Information and Support Night, from 7-9pm, on Thursday, January 29 at PCA (245 Renfrew Drive). Our students would be greatly encouraged by your presence at this event. You will learn more about our First Nations peoples, the ministry of Day Star Native Outreach and the tools we will be employing to teach about Creation and the Gospel. Will you join us? Thank you!
